Ski jump

In October we saw this place in reds and greens of untypically warm autumn. Then, considering the winter type of this attraction you asked me and I promised to show this place decorated with snow.
It is the ski-jump, which is part of Luzhniki sports grounds. It is situated on Vorobievy (Sparrow) Hills. You also see the silhouette of the spires of Moscow University.

Ready for Skiing

Ski-jump, part of the Luzhniki Stadium, next to the observation deck is being prepared for the winter. In the summer its lifts are used for driving tourists, as the view is spectacular. And in the winter (coming soon!) the athletes are training here.

Trees Crib

This tree's names and types crib I have seen in the park at Vorobievy Gory. Every tree trunk has the green tag with the name of the tree it belongs to. I like the idea, as I am the one who is far from strong in trees recognizing.

These days the heat is unbearable and there is almost no wind in the city. The increasing fires around Moscow and the smog make the idea to breath sound like not good idea at all. Last week the maximum temperatures records ever were broken. And they promise that heat will last...

The Victory Day 2

Yesterday, Russia very widely celebrated the 65th anniversary of the victory in the World War 2. It is the  photo of the part of the scenery on the Vorobievy (Sparrow) Hills. This Soviet flag - a copy of one of the victorious banners of the Red Army in 1945.

And I want to add to my previous post about the red (picturesque) bridge. You asked me what is this thing, looking like an ellipsein the top of the bridge. It is the would be restaurant. I shall be very afraid of the height, but for sure will go there when the restaurant opens :-)

Half of Moscow

This is another picture from Vorobievy Gory, taken from the designated 'lookout point'. And ok, maybe you can't really see half of Moscow - but it certainly feels like you can! It's also worth noting the buildings that dot the skyline - how many of Stalin's Seven Sisters (skyscrapers) can you find?

Abandoned

This is an abandoned escalator building in Vorobievy Gory (Sparrow Hills). What you see here are the remains of the three former escalators. The building was opened in 1959 as a quick way for people to reach the top of the hill. It was closed in 1983, due to structural defects, and was never re-opened, as you can see! Now it sits graffiti covered (and currently ice filled!) as a reminder of the past.
