This is the Kazan Cathedral located in Red Square. The original cathedral was built in 1636, but was destroyed in 1936 by Stalin's orders to clear the city of churches. It was the first church that was destroyed by communists to be completely rebuilt. The rebuilding took place from 1990-1993, and was done according to measurements and photos of the original cathedral. This is still an older photo, taken in June. I will be heading back to Moscow tonight by train. Fingers crossed for good weather and clear skies!
