Thank you!

My dear readers (or viewers ? :)),

Thank you so much for those warm words you have for me! I will miss you comments, too. In a few days I should get home Internet so I will be able to post whose photos of Moscow as I still have in the store. Then, I believe, Ashira will take up the torch.

I'm staying in Auckland so far. There are already a few Auckland Daily Photo blog so may be I will start something different. In any case, my camera is working in non-stop mode over here.

And today's photo represents the monorail as seen from Ostankino tower.

Breaking news

It's a bit sad but this blog is about to be closed since I have moved to New Zealand.
I've got enough photos to last for another couple weeks but no more.
If any of you would like to pick up posting in Moscow Daily Photos, just leave a comment in any of my posts.

Thank you!

Mount police. Impression

This photo came blurry for the light was insufficient but I like it even better this way. Looks a bit like impressiinist's painting.

For a while I will post no comment with my photos since I'm permanently running out of time these days. But hope it will not last long.

Kolomenskoe

On the high bank of Moscow-river you can see blue cupolas and and white towers - remains of once magnificant tsar's palace.

All apologies for being so late with today's posting but time is really hard on me lately. Hope you'll like those last greetings of flowering season.na

Harvest

Apple are plentiful this year. Every apple-tree about Moscow is heavy with fruits. Not all of them eatable, though, for wild ones are usually extremely sour. One more reason is ecology: I wouldn't risk having an apple grown in Moscow, especially next to some busy road.
Kolomenskoe park is famous for its apple gardens. If not something for my table but at least they make good pictures!

Would you believe it's Moscow DP?

As I told you a while back, Moscow-river is usually dark grey or nasty brown. But there was a day when the sky was of so rich a colour that even waters of Moscow-river looked surprisingly blue. And the boat happened to be tied at the bank.
The scene looked so far was typical Moscow landscape!

At the height of 337 meters

As I told you yesterday, there is an observation deck in Ostankino Tower. Well, I went there the other day and took some photos. There are several glass sections in the floor so you can look down. And see something like this. Some people get scared but obviously I'm not one of them for I loved the feeling of beeing above.

Ostankino Tower

This is the famous TV Tower in Moscow. It was built in 1967 by lead-engineer Nikolay Nikitin. The construction of Ostankino Tower is unique for its basement is only 4.6 meters deep while the tower itself is 540 meters high which made it the highest building in the world for the next decade. Now Ostankino Tower holds the 4th place surpassed in height by CN Tower in Toronto, TV Tower in Guǎngzhōu and Burj Dubai, though two latest are not complete yet.
There is an observation deck in Ostankino tower at the height of 337 meters and a restaurant 'Seventh heaven' just below it (see the large 'knob' nearly on the top, where the antenne begin).
In August of 2000 there was a fire in the tower, serious damage was done and since then observation deck and the restaurant were closed. Renewed deck was open to public just a couple months back but restaurant is still under construction.

Theme Day: Contrast

First turning leaves provide perfect opportunity for October's Theme Day which is to present CONTRAST. Well, I thought of showing social or architectural contrast for a while but then chose colours.
