Bell-Tower

The Church of St. Sophia Bell-Tower (1862-1868)
I am very ashamed, but I saw this building for the first time. It is located in the heart of the city, at Sofiyskaya embankment, directly opposite to the Kremlin. But I never noticed it before and I don't know why.
That's why I want to express my gratitude to Irina because she invited me to this blog. Despite the fact that I have lived here all of my life, I began to notice more details of this city over the past few months.

In fact I was planning post with this photo few weeks ago and thinking what this image was cold memory about winter. But now snow still with us.
Though, honestly, the approach of spring is felt no matter what.

Church of Christ the Savior

The view from the parking lot.

I parked on the other side of Moskva-river and, still in the car, was sketching the church of Christ the Savior. Then I realized that the view could make nice addition to Moscow photoblog.

Cold days (really cold! about -15C (5F) have one really great advantage. The air becomes crisp and transparent, the sun adds gold to the city colors and the sky is of so special blue tint.

I was browzing through my grey winter photos and decided to decorate the blog with a bit of red.
But I did not want you to be confused, so here I enclosed the original version, too.

Under the Bridge

I keep on posting the geometry of the city. Today the geometry is under the bridge at Andreevskaya Embankment. These massive piers hold the lately constructed highway, 3rd transport ring, that's how it looks from above the bridge:

People Dancing

Today strong wind brought us these beautiful clouds. The photos are made at the right time (about 7pm) from the river cruise ship.
The second photo is the dancing which is located at the river edge and is great pleasure to look at. So if you are in Moscow and want to dance in open air - welcome to Gorky park.

PS. About my previous post (The copy of Brandenburg gates in Moscow). Many of you asked about relations between our countries. Germany, since 1972, is the number 1 trade partner of Russia, as almost 14% of Russian foreign trade is German share.
And my personal experience. For many years I worked with German companies and have a number of German friends. Nothing special. Usual people. Set me examples how to be disciplined, how to be workaholic, how to keep the agreements, how to be honest and openhearted. Simone, if you read this, the last part of this "speech" is specially about you.

PPS. Today I received the letter from Abraham Lincoln (everybody knows him). He took care of Ashira's photo (few days ago) and slightly improved it with Photoshop ("I used Photoshop to make the darker parts of the people lighter so you could see what the camera recorded but was not able to process.").  So I wanted to show you the result here, as Ashira is really busy young lady.

Ski jump

In October we saw this place in reds and greens of untypically warm autumn. Then, considering the winter type of this attraction you asked me and I promised to show this place decorated with snow.
It is the ski-jump, which is part of Luzhniki sports grounds. It is situated on Vorobievy (Sparrow) Hills. You also see the silhouette of the spires of Moscow University.

City Panorama

The view of Moskva-river in the city center today. They say the hottest summer in 1000 years (I do not know who did statistics 900 years ago :-))) will be over tomorrow. We'll see.

These days are very hot and the city rushes to the river to get some wind and coolness.

I joined this blog with very weak photography skills and only intention to show my city as I see it. And at the same time I subscribed to Digital Photography School posts.  And usually find some interesting things there. The last revelation - when it is very sunny and the light is very strong, you should manually use the flash and the sun will be softened on the edges of the object (Taken from here). Who could know? :-)))
