These are pryaniki, or honey cakes as they're called in English. They're made in all kinds of shapes, and with all kinds of sweet fillings. These particular ones were very honey flavored, but others remind me of mild gingerbread.
My favorite filling is either cherry or forest berries, and I love to eat them with a cup of hot tea!
