Theme Day: Statues


This is a statue of Saint George, the Patron Saint of Moscow - he is always shown slaying a dragon. Here he sits on top of the World Clock fountain - it's an illustrated map of the world and it actually rotates to tell the time! (see picture below). Moscow is marked on the map by a statue showing St. Basil's Cathedral and two of the Kremlin towers.

The numbers on the bottom are actually the hours on a clock, and the little lights above the numbers represent the minutes. Here it's 18:20 (6:20pm).
