As promised, here are some pictures of the whole church from Tuesday's post.
This church, the Shrine of Lady Tikhvin, was built in 1911. It was a church of the Old Believers, a community of religious people that follow the older traditions of Russian Orthodoxy. As with many other churches during Soviet times, it was closed, and temporarily used a banquet hall. In 2003 it was bought by a wealthy businessman who wanted to turn it into a museum, but the Church was opposed to that, they wanted it restored to it's proper use.
